PRODECK OUTDOOR LIVING

TENNESSEE PERGOLAS

ProDeck Outdoor Living is a pergola builder in Knoxville, TN. We design and build custom pergolas for homes across Knox County and East Tennessee, from freestanding shade structures over a patio to pergolas attached to a deck or the back of the house. Every project starts with an on-site consultation, a design you can review before we build, and a written proposal. We handle permits where your city or HOA requires them, then build and clean up so you can start enjoying the space.

Freestanding or Attached: Choosing a Pergola for Your Yard

A freestanding pergola creates an outdoor room anywhere in the yard, such as over a patio or a fire pit seating area. An attached pergola connects to your house or deck and extends your living space straight out the back door. The right choice depends on where you want shade, how the sun moves across your lot, and how the pergola will tie into existing structures. If you want full protection from rain, a solid-roof patio cover may suit you better than an open pergola. Our guide to choosing between a pergola vs patio cover in Knoxville walks through the trade-offs.

Pergola Materials for East Tennessee Weather

Knoxville summers bring heat, humidity and heavy rain, so material choice matters for how a pergola holds up and how much upkeep it needs. We walk you through the material options that fit your design, your budget and how much upkeep you want, and every material is spelled out in your proposal.

What Affects the Cost of a Pergola

Every pergola is priced from its design, so we give you a written estimate after the on-site consultation rather than a one-size number. The main cost factors are size, the material you choose, whether the pergola is freestanding or attached, footings and site preparation on sloped or rocky ground, and any extras you add. Pairing a pergola with a new patio or an outdoor kitchen also changes the scope, and we can plan the whole space together.

Pergola Permits and Timeline in East Tennessee

Permit requirements vary by city and county, and HOA neighborhoods often have their own rules. We confirm what your property needs before construction starts and take care of the applications. Your proposal includes a timeline that accounts for material delivery, inspections and weather, so you know what to expect from design to finished pergola.
